5.5.1 Compositing

As described in the Theory section, compositing values along ray can be done in several ways. Two well-known compositing methods are the Maximum Intensity Projection (MIP) and the Additive Reprojection, which are discussed in the Background section. These two compositing methods are part of the application as coded. Users can choose MIP or XRAY for the rendering function and the appropriate compositing equations are calculated. The Levoy's compositing equation which is more interesting is also included. The success of Levoy's compositing depends strongly on the volume of opacities generated in by the classification process.
