I haven't read this book yet, but it looks good.  A large number of
recipes with a short history in front.  This book refutes the claims
made by most other ice cream books that a) Marco Polo brought ice
cream back from China, b) the Henri II stories, and c) the Charles I
stories (basically, there are no references to these stories before
the nineteenth century).
