Amsterdam

Last Updated: July 17, 2006
I was on sabbatical in Amsterdam from May 1999-October 1999, visiting Leo Dorst at the University of Amsterdam. The main Amsterdam people I spent time with were Leo and his wife, Phyllis. I returned briefly in the summer of 2000, and then again for 2 weeks at the end of April, 2001. These pages are mostly based on my sabbatical, but I saw a few additional things during my 2 week stay, and some of my comments are from that time.

This is a web page describing my experiences as a medium term visitor that you may find useful if you visit there. Much of the information will be about the time I was in Amsterdam, and some will undoubtably have changed. And there will be a strong slant towards my experience: I lived on Prinsengracht near the Anne Frank House, and I stayed for 6 months, so much of what I did wasn't standard tourist things (i.e., I had to set up a temporary home).

Pictures. I'm in the process of scanning them. Still. 7 years after my sabbatical. On the other hand, I just got my own scanner, so perhaps there'll be some progress here.
