Amsterdam - Weather
Last Updated: December 13, 1999
I was in Amsterdam from May 4, 1999-October 19, 1999. Here's
a month by month summary of the weather while I was here.
- May: Not too cold (but take a jacket) and not too hot. But
it rains often and it's very windy.
- June: Early June is like May. But in mid-June, the weather
became extremely nice: Sunny, less wind, a bit warm but
not hot.
- July: I was gone the first week of July, but when I came back
it was sunny, hot, and sticky. It would cool down at
night, though. After a week of this, the wind blew in
the clouds, it rained a bit, and cooled off.
Basically, little rain, warm to hot temperature.
- August was quite rainy. Showers on most
days, although no days of continuous rain, and
usually some breaks in the clouds to let the
sun in. The rain came in showers, raining quite
hard at times, and then clearing up (with sunshine)
in about half an hour. At the very end of the month,
the weather became nice again, just in time for when
some friends of mine visited.
- September: Some rain, but mostly sunny. The
temperature started to drop, and when a mid-month
rain hit, I thought it'd be rain for the rest of
my stay. But it cleared, and was mostly nice.
- October: Again, it got rainy/cloudy early
in the month and the temperature dropped.
But 4 days before I left, the clouds cleared:
4 days beautiful blue skies, albeit a bit
cool. Apparently the rains hit again just
after I flew out.
Rain-or-shine has a
weather page for Amsterdam. It's one
day forecast was almost always wrong. However, the one
day forecast was a reasonably accurate two day forecast.
