Summary
This is one of the two books I bought that were stolen in
Vancouver. I replaced the other one, but couldn't find a
current copy of this Lonely Planet Book, so I bought the
Rough Guide instead. After my return from China, I looked
at another copy of the Lonely Guide, and feel I should have
replaced my stolen Lonely Planet with the previous printing
rather than with the Rough Guide.
If you're going to only get one guide book, this book would be
my recommendation. It's listing are extensive, and it has
lots of useful additional information. I also liked the way
they formated hotel and other such information. They didn't
do anything fancy, just indented lists, but that's more than
most of the books.
But...
No real problems here. Frommer's is easier to read (but not
by much - the Lonely Planet reads well, too) and Baedeker's
has more pictures. And Lonely Planet organizes the cities by
region (I prefer alphabetical).
