Rhodes

Rhodes has a medival city which is fun to wander through. Also on the island is another acropolis. Rather than take the excursion to the acropolis, we took a city bus. This had its advantages and disadvantages. The first disadvantage was finding the bus terminal (taking a taxi there would have been smart). The second disadvantage was that the bus took 90 minutes to get there, for a total time from when we disembarked from the ship of 3 hours (admittedly, some of that time was spent walking through the city when no one was around, so it wasn't so bad).

The advantage of taking the bus is that we arrived just as the early morning tour groups were leaving. So when we walked around the acropolis, there weren't too many people there. And as we were leaving, the later morning tour busses showed up. So by chance, we managed to visit between tour groups.

We then caught a taxi back to the city. This almost didn't work out, since most of the taxis had been booked for round trips and weren't available for hire when we came by. Fortunately, we found one taxi, which took 40 minutes to get back to the city, where we wandered around some more.

Of the places we visited, Rhodes was my favorite.
