Greece Cruise 2007
Last Updated: October 23, 2007
We took a four day cruise to visit some of the Greek islands.
Oringally, we were booked to be on the Sea Diamond. But the
Sea Diamond ran into Santorini and sunk a month or so before
our trip. So we were put on the "Oceanic II" instead.
As you can see in the second picture, there was a picture of
Mona Lisa painted on the smoke stack. Apparently, the Mona Lisa
was a "floater" ship that did fill in jobs, and the cruise line
booked it to cover the trips that were supposed to be handled by
the Sea Diamond. And the Mona Lisa appears to be based in the
Carribean - it's home port was Nassau. Supposedly, ours was the last
cruise on the Oceanic II; after our trip, it appears that other
arrangements were made for those who had been booked for the Sea
Diamond.
The cruise suffered some of the same problems as the bus tour: when
you took an excursion, you usually wished that you had more time to
spend at places. However, most of the traveling was done at night
while you slept, so your days were a bit better off (although getting
off the ship was a bit time consuming).
During the cruise, we visited
