Niagara Falls, 2002

Last Updated: September 5, 2002
On Labor Day, Mei and I went to Niagara Falls. I noticed in the Ulysses book "Hiking in Ontario" a mention of the Dufferin Islands, just south of the Horseshoe Falls. We decided to drop by the islands and take a peek.

Turns out Mei had been to the Islands. They were okay, but they're certainly not worth a trip on their own. However, if you're there anyway (the islands are next to one of the further away parking lots), it's a nice little walk through the islands. I found the walk from the falls to the islands more interesting, though. But, of course, the walk along the river north of the falls has the major attractions, so on a one time visit, you might want to spend your time there.

The Movies

My digital camera can capture short "movies." I shot a few views of the falls. It looks like a water fall. The movies are bigger than the images, so you may want to think twice about downloading them. They're QuickTime movies, so if you don't have a QuickTime player, don't even bother thinking once. The images are approximations of the scene in the movie. Yes, two of the movies are similar. The middle movie (the biggest) is my favorite, as the water in the foreground rushes by.
