Borders Tour
We took a Borders tour with Discreet Scotland. While they list particular
sites on their borders tour, we were able to pick where we
wanted to go (our preference was the abbeys; we added Jedburgh Abbey to
the tour in place of another site Discrete had suggested) and spend
as much time as we wanted at each place without being rushed.
We were very happy with our tour.

Linlithgow Palace and Blackness Castle
We took a train from
Edinburgh to Linlithgow; it's a short walk from the train station to
the palace. The palace is great. Next to the palace is St Michael's
Church. And if you catch the #49 bus from Linlithgow, you can see
Blackness Castle (but note that this bus only runs once every 2 hours).

After our Highland tour,
our Rabbies driver was nice enough to drop us off in Stirling, where we spent the night and saw Stirling Castle. We then took the train to Ayr, and from Ayr,
the #60 bus to Culzean.
